Temporaryįiles are kept as long as possible but are liable to be deleted at any time without warning when free space is low (see select/delete below). It should be used for permanent files without the need for automated backups, e. g. smaller input files for model runs, std output etc. This file system is much larger than your $HOME and also controlled by quotas. $PERM provides permanent storage for Member State users but without any backup.
